It’s Time to Change the Logo – a talk with Khaldoun Shadoud about his mural on SDG 16

Since 2017, the globalgoals.hamburg project has been creating murals – which change every six months – on the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals at Neuer Kamp 32, opposite the Feldstraße underground station. In September 2026, the choice fell on SDG 16: ‘Peace, justice and strong institutions’. The commission was awarded to the Syrian-born artist Khaldoun Shadoud. He is a visual artist specialising in sculpture and has been exploring the themes of war and peace, freedom, displacement and social change for many years. He has been living in Hamburg since February 2026 and, as a fellow of the Hamburg Cultural Authority’s INTRO programme, is working on a major art project in which he explores the sensory and collective experience of peace and translates this into art.

Mara from fokusglobal met him right there for a deep talk on his work and the issue of peace.
